DISTRICT GOVERNOR'S VISION:  Rotary Clubs of D7600 will be powerful supporting arms of local, state, and federal response organizations while developing disaster relief plans at the District and Club levels to facilitate receipt of aid from others to better meet the needs of local communities and individual Rotarians following a natural or other disaster.

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF:  Information is forthcoming on how we will be called upon to assist Rotary Clubs in Haiti (D7020).  Look for information here!  For now begin collecting monetary donations as we know the need for money contributions will be great.  Am sure there will be other needs as well but we need to wait further guidance on them.  Please get this word out to D7600 Rotarians!  We will be using the Warwick Rotary Club's Foundation to collect our donations before sending on to D7020 (info below).  Checks may be made out to Warwick Rotary Foundation with a notation that the funds are for Haiti Relief.  If you have specific questions about the Warwick Rotary Foundation, please contact PDG Jim Probsdorfer of the Warwick Club.  

Any Rotarian or Rotary Club wishing to make a donation to support the Haiti Disaster Relief efforts may do so by sending a check to:

From D7020 PDG Richard McCombe:

PDG Dick has provided a list of medical supplies needed as well as food items.  If your Club is interested in gathering medical supplies and/or food items for shipment, contact me for the detailed list.  There is a collection point established in Florida; details are forthcoming.

We are collecting D7600 monetary contributions using the Warwick Club Foundation as specified above.  We should receive soon further instructions as to the remainder of the needs--how to send, etc.

ROTARY'S ROLE:

Rotary's role in disaster preparation and relief is to provide resources, to include individual Rotary volunteers, to existing volunteer organizations active in disasters. The term for these organizations is "VOADs," Volunteer Organizations Active in Disasters. Rotary's role is not to replace or replicate any of the existing VOADs. As leaders within our communities, we should know our local VOADs and be prepared to assist them with resources when the time comes.
